Second volume is better than the first

Better than Vol.1, which was great to begin with.
We learn more about the accelerated world with the amazing revelation that some burst linkers spend years of subjective time in the accelerated world. Just how old (subjectively) is Kuroyukihime? What is her real name? When will Haru's relationship with Kuroyukihime advance? Only a little at a time, as Haru's own self-image improves step by step.
The author introduces a Tsundere little sister character, who makes Haru very happy or miserable, depending on her whim. Some funny interactions. The battle scenes are easy to understand and Haru's slow but steadily improving prowess is suspenseful, as is the story itself. Overall, it is quite an enjoyable read for a manga nut like me.
Some very nice illustrations inside.
This second novel in the series is fascinating as well as an entertaining story. I eagerly await the next volumes.

Continues to impress

Just as good as the first book. See my review on Accel World Vol 1: Kuroyukihime's Return. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that I enjoy the new characters, as well as watching the returning characters grow. Haruyuki is becoming a stronger and more confident person, but at a believable pace. Kuroyukihime also has some things to work out, and we get a little more backstory on her in this volume.

Slow Start, Solid Product

Volume 1 was an excellent start for the series. Unfortunately, it seemed that Mr. Kawahara couldnt quite hit his stride with this volume like he did with that one. Whereas v1 made me quickly rush through it in a day, it took me four-five attempts to get through this volume over the week Ive been reading it. Thats not really all that good for a book of its length. The main issue is that slow start to this volume. Introducing a new character is usually a bit more compelling than how he did it here. I can only imagine that he did get a bit better with other characters later on.
The final chapters helped to make up for the really slow start and I got through that chunk of a hundred or so pages pretty fast. It was intense.
In terms of the book, there are virtually no extras beyond another insightful afterward from Mr. Kawahara, and some random advertisements from Yen Press. There are color page illustrations from Hima at the start. Typsetting of the text on these illustrations is clean and attractive. There are also black and white illustrations throughout. I didnt find any issues with The translation offered from Jocelyne Allen, who also did the first volume.
